Our Design/Build Process for Remodels
When you work with a design/build company, you don’t need to worry about keeping up with multiple teams of contractors. We streamline the remodeling process by providing you with a singular team of expert designers and builders who will create and construct your custom space.
We conduct each project with this process:
-
Initial Meetings
The process begins with an informative, in-home consultation to discuss your goals, style preferences, and budget. At this meeting, we’re here to listen. We want to get to know your family and understand your needs.
-
Site Evaluation/Project Space Measure
We will take measurements and photographs and evaluate the existing site conditions to determine what work will need to be done to achieve your vision.
-
Design Kick-Off Meeting
We’ll sit down with you to plan out the initial design, taking your vision into account every step of the way. We’ll hear out any issues you have with your current space and will work with you to come up with appropriate solutions.
-
Preliminary Design Phase
Once your needs are outlined, our designers will begin diligently working to create a complete design for you to review. Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD), we’ll prepare detailed construction plans, including a precisely scaled three-dimensional model of the space.
-
Design & Budget Overview
Your proposal will include a write-up of the project overview, budget estimates, a tentative design, and any information you’ve requested from our design/build firm. We’ll use this time to firm up details and answer any questions you have. When you come in to review the design, you’ll be able to see the finished product come to life in 3D perspective.
-
Final Design Development Phase
If needed, modifications can be made to the proposal based on your feedback. We want to make sure the project is exactly what you’re looking for before we begin, so any changes are welcome and encouraged at this stage.
-
Construction Agreement & Deposit
Once the proposal is signed, it becomes an agreement and we’ll move forward with your project. We will set a construction schedule that works with your needs and begin submitting paperwork for the necessary permits. You will also put down your deposit at this stage.
-
Project Selection Finalization
We’ll finalize the construction schedule, as well as all hardware and finishes that will be included in your project. A start date for construction will be agreed upon based on a list of selections to be made and any special-order materials required.
-
Pre-Construction Meeting
Before construction begins, a pre-construction walk-through will be done at your home. You’ll meet with your project manager before any work starts to review the contract and the schedule. At this meeting, we’ll answer any questions you may have concerning site issues, dust control, and daily activities. This meeting is to make sure all individuals are on the same page before the start of construction.
-
Start of Construction
When construction begins, the work area will be sealed off to ensure cleanliness and safety. At the end of each workday, you can expect your project area to be swept and vacuumed. All materials should be stacked neatly and tools should be stored away.
You’ll communicate with your project manager regularly to stay updated on the progress of your project. Your PM coordinates the construction project from start to finish, so frequent communication is critical. If you have questions or concerns throughout the process, your project manager will be happy to assist you.
