Our Kitchen Remodeling Process
Deciding to remodel your Montgomery County kitchen is a big step, and the actual remodel can seem overwhelming. At Meridian Construction, we work to make it easier and low-stress with our proven process. And you’re working with one team from design through completion — so you know you won’t be left hanging.
If you’ve decided that now is the time for a new kitchen, start by calling us today.
The kitchen remodeling process starts with you: your goals, wants, needs, style, budget, and beyond. We want to get to know your family and understand your needs. Craving custom cabinets? Now’s the time to tell us, and we can make it happen! As your kitchen remodeling and design/build team, our primary job during the consultation is to listen.
We want to learn more about your project and ask you some questions to find out how we can help you. There’s no obligation or expectation at this meeting. It’s just an opportunity for all of us to decide if you can benefit from working with Meridian Construction. If you’d like us to help you, we can review our design development agreement and discuss the next steps.
If you decide that we’re not the best fit, that’s completely fine. We’ll try to provide you with some valuable information during our discussion.
The first step of design is a project space measure. We’ll take measurements and photographs to evaluate the existing condition of your kitchen. We then use this information to determine what work will need to be done to address your wants and needs.
Our designers get to work creating a detailed kitchen remodeling plan. This includes a write-up of the project overview, budget estimates, and a working design.
We use computer-aided design, or CAD, to produce a three-dimensional rendering so you can experience the real feel of your new kitchen, as well as virtual reality apps that allow you to “walk through” the new space and see details such as custom countertops or new appliances.
The plans are discussed, revised, and reworked over a series of meetings until you’re satisfied with the outcome. We want you to be comfortable and confident before construction, so we never rush the design process.

Once you approve of the design for the kitchen remodel, it’s time to begin preparation for construction. A very detailed scope and relevant drawings are reviewed and signed together. This includes the expected start and completion date, so you know upfront when your new kitchen will be finished.
Leading up to your expected start date, we’ll have a series of meetings to finalize material selections, such as cabinet style/finish, hardware, plumbing fixtures, etc. We order special-order materials and submit all permit applications on your behalf.
Before construction begins, we meet to discuss the rules of your home so we make sure we respect your space. Once everyone is on the same page, we’ll seal off the work area and begin. You can expect frequent communication with weekly meetings, updates, and answers to any questions you may have throughout the process.
In addition to our emails and office number, you’ll have the owner’s cellphone number so you can reach us 24/7.
Once construction is complete, we’ll collaborate with you to create a “finish list” to touch on anything you think may be missing from your kitchen remodel. After you approve your new kitchen, our team will begin the closing procedures and final inspections.
Lastly, your project developer will walk through your finished remodel with you. They’ll ask questions to make sure you’re completely satisfied, and you’ll receive a binder containing all your product warranties, manuals, and material selections.
