OUR APPROACH TO DESIGN/BUILD

When it comes to remodeling a home, a lot of factors go into creating a beautiful and functional finished space. Our design/build approach provides owners with a single point of contact for both the design and construction phases of a remodel.

At Meridian Construction, one team works together from start to finish in open communication and purposeful collaboration to deliver a better experience. Our goal is to build better projects and provide a better experience.

From the moment you pick up the phone to schedule your in-home consultation to the final walk-through, our team will be there to help.

1. Initial Meeting

The process begins with an informative, in-home consultation to look at your space and discuss your goals. We want to learn more about your project and ask questions to determine how we can help you.

There is no obligation or expectation. This meeting is an opportunity for all of us to decide if you can benefit from working with Meridian and our unique design/build approach. If you decide that you would like to work with us, we can review our design development agreement and discuss next steps.

2. Site Evaluation/Project Space Measurements

Once the design agreement is signed, we will schedule a date to take measurements, photographs, and collect any information relevant to your project. This information will allow us to build an accurate computer model of your space and determine what will be needed to achieve your vision. Doing our best to understand your home helps us to build better projects and eliminate surprises during construction.

3. Design Kick-Off Meeting

During your first design meeting, we will ask questions to learn even more about you and your specific goals before we start work on your plans. We want to learn as much as we can about what you want to change, and more importantly, why. This meeting is our opportunity to understand your vision and expectations so we can work on finding solutions for you and your new space.

4. Preliminary Design and Planning

Our goal with this phase is to provide you with an exciting design solution and the information you need to make good decisions about your project. Our designers will begin diligently working to create a preliminary design for you.

Using computer-aided design (CAD), we will prepare conceptual plans, including floor plans and three-dimensional renderings of the proposed space. You will be able to see a virtual walk-through of the remodeled space.

After presenting the conceptual design, we will make any necessary revisions based on your feedback. We will then write a detailed scope and provide preliminary pricing to make sure the proposed plan is in alignment with your expectations.

5. Final Design & Development

As we continue with design development meetings, we will discuss plans and material selections in more detail. You will work closely with your interior designer, whose guidance and expertise will give you the confidence to make all the selections needed to finalize the details of your project.

We want to ensure the project is exactly what you are looking for before we begin. Material samples will be delivered to your home so you can view and evaluate them alongside the existing finishes in your home. As the plans and selections are finalized, we will provide you with a construction agreement.

6. Construction Phase

If you make the exciting decision to build your project with Meridian, we will sign a construction agreement and begin with the process of permitting and preparation so we can bring your plans to life. We will schedule a pre-construction walk-through meeting at your home where your project manager and designer will answer your questions and you can discuss safety, security, dust control, and the rules of your home.

Our goal is to reduce stress and disruption to your routine and make the remodel as comfortable as we can for you and your family. At the end of each workday, you can expect your project space to be swept and kept orderly. All materials will be stacked neatly and tools stored away.

Frequent communication is critical. You will have weekly meetings with your project manager and designer to discuss the construction schedule, what to expect, and updates on the progress of your project.

7. Project Completion

Our goal is to consistently deliver quality work and personalized service to a degree that will make Meridian Construction your sole resource for future work, and allow you to confidently refer us to your friends and family.

When work is complete, we will have a final walk-through and interview to ensure everything was delivered as promised. We will provide a final project binder for future reference with all plans, product warranties, use and care manuals, and any other relevant information. You can also expect us to check in from time to time after the project is complete.
