Our Team

What are the owners of the business like?

Meridian Construction has been providing quality renovation and remodeling services in our community since 1989. For over 25 years, Mick and Larry Giannone have built a strong and reliable team of professional and skilled crafts people.

Mick and Larry Giannone are committed to continuing education through the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) and Remodelers Advantage Roundtables. Remodelers Advantage Roundtables is a peer group and learning community where top remodeling companies work together to share best practices and improve their companies.

They have a combined 54-year history of working in residential and commercial construction. Between them, Larry and Mick have experienced every kind of remodeling challenge. Nearly 80% of their business is either by referral or repeat customers. Both Larry and Mick feel that this is due to their integrity and workmanship. As brothers and co-owners of the company, each has a sense of responsibility and loyalty to their clients, employees, partners and each other.

Mick Giannone

Mick Giannone comes from a long line of craftsmen.  He and Larry are 4th generation carpenters.  Their father was an engineer and was a fine woodwork craftsmen.  Their grandfather was a contractor in NJ, their great-grandfather was a cabinet maker and their great-great grandfather built wooden ships in Philadelphia.

While working as a landscaper when he was 19, Mick was asked by a neighbor to build an addition.  Although he told his neighbor he didn’t know anything about construction, he went to a bookstore and started from there.  The end result was that the neighbor was happy with the results, and Mick started the business.  He worked out of his house for the first 13 years, and eventually moved into commercial space.  The business grew through word-of-mouth advertising, local newspapers.  Now, most of Meridian’s business comes from repeat clients and referrals.

As General Manager, Mick is the company’s Production Manager and Estimator, and works on the day-to-day operations with the field. He ensures that each client’s project is worked on by the highest caliber of professionalism, stays on time and within budget.  He loves going out and doing the work … being as hands-on as possible.  Mick gets gratification from seeing the progress of the construction in Meridian’s clients’ homes.

Mick enjoys working with the field, teaching, mentoring and guiding the workers to develop into qualified craftsmen.  He is EPA Lead Certified and is a member of NARI.

Mick loves fishing and is an auction freak, especially antique construction equipment.  He doesn’t collect anything that’s newer than from the 1920’s.   If he wasn’t a contractor, he’d probably have an auction house.

Mick participates in the Breast Cancer Awareness in Philadelphia and loves spending time and being involved with family and especially with nieces and nephews.

Larry Giannone

Larry Giannone, is a Certified Remodeler with The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and EPA Lead Certified.  Larry started working with Mick when he was 12 years old, on a part-time basis, working weekends and summers.  Mick made him a full partner when Larry turned 18.

Larry started as a laborer and moved up the ranks to carpenter, lead carpenter, production manager, ultimately learning all aspects of residential construction. Along the way, he started working in sales and design, which he now heads up at Meridian.

Larry loves working with home owners and watching the projects go from concept to completion.  He works collaboratively with their clients, ensuring that the design fits with the functionality needed and retains the integrity of the original design of the home.

For Larry, being a contractor is his avocation.  He believes this is what he was meant to do.  Larry started to design from the beginning and would sketch things by hand. He was self taught in the early years and continues to further his education with advanced training in CAD design and other subjects related to design and drafting.

Larry is most proud of the fact Mick and he built the company together.  They started working out of a van, not having enough money to buy a radio.  They have built Meridian into the sustainable company it is today.  He is especially proud of the relationships they have developed and retained with their clients.

Larry has been married since 1997.  He met his wife on a blind date when they were 18 and have been together ever since.  They love boating on the Chesapeake Bay.

Gail Giannone

The first voice you’ll hear when you call in to Meridian is that of Gail Giannone … the proud mother of Mick and Larry.  Gail has been working with Meridian for the past two years as the bookkeeper and office manager.  Before that, she worked with another of her four sons, for over 16 years as his bookkeeper and office manager.

Her greatest joy is spending time with her four sons and their families, including four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
