Lead Carpenter

Position Summary

The ability to supervise, lead and teach other team members.  Knowledgeable in all phases of residential remodeling and construction procedures.  Extensive rough and finished carpentry experience and the ability to interact and communicate well with clients, team members, vendors, and specialty trade partners

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of assigned remodeling and/or construction projects, including sub-trades and crew members.
  • Plans and utilizes tools and materials to isolate and protect the work area for the purposes of safety and dust control. This includes plastic zip walls, tarps, ram board, air scrubbers, protective films, rubber mats, covers for HVAC returns, etc.
  • Represents Meridian Construction as the on-site client liaison and advocate, resolving issues as they arise and/or escalating them for resolution.
  • Collaborates with the relevant Design, Sales, and Production team to ensure a thorough understanding of the scope of the project throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participates in and manage all project-related meetings including the pre-construction meeting and the weekly project progress meetings.
  • Uploads Daily Logs to the client and the rest of the team, with photos, summary of work completed each day, and “what to expect” for the following day.
  • Checks and reviews the job site at the end of each day to ensure all utilities are capped and safe. This includes water supply, plumbing drains/ vents, wiring, electrical components, sprinklers, and HVAC supply/ return.
  • Manages and expedites the work of other team members such as carpenters and laborers, assigning tasks with associated timelines and clear expectations; oversee results.
  • Oversees the work of all specialty trade subcontractors, ensuring project scope is met.
  • Identifies Additional Work Orders and communicates them to the Project Manager.
  • Maintains the project site and property in a neat and orderly fashion; provide adequate protection; broom clean site daily, remove debris quickly; secure the site daily.

Objective

  • Possess the highest level of carpentry skills.
  • Review and thoroughly understand all aspects of the project scope, details, job site condition, and client responsibilities and expectations.
  • Responsible for the successful, timely, and cost-efficient management and completion of assigned remodeling construction projects.
  • Protect the clients, their home, and their belongings during construction.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and organized job site.
  • Manage the execution of each project according to the final drawings, specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide all day-to-day client communication after the pre-construction walk-though meeting. This includes verbal and written communication
  • Preserve customer satisfaction throughout the project within the means of the construction contract.

Carpenter Job Description

Position Summary

Strong organization and communication skills. A good understanding of rough and finish carpentry methods and techniques. Strong carpentry skills and the ability to interact well with clients, trade partners, and other team members.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs Specific Carpentry Tasks:
    • Demolition, tear out, debris disposal.
    • Rough and finish carpentry to company’s standard of quality and according to the plans and specifications.
    • Lay out and install stud wall framing.
    • Siding and exterior trim.
    • Install standard wall-hung cabinetry and accessories.
    • Install pre-hung door units and windows.
    • Install drywall and able to properly tape drywall sheathing.
    • Perform simple repairs in painting/staining, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and flooring.
    • Maintain a safe and clean jobsite.

Objective

  • Provide jobsite assistance to the Lead Carpenter.
  • Provide carpentry services.
  • Review and thoroughly understand all aspects of the project scope, details, job site condition, and client responsibilities and expectations.
  • Bring discrepancies to the attention of the Lead Carpenter, Project Manager, and Production Manager as they arise.

Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, scheduling, and management of multiple projects. This includes quality control, and most importantly, customer communication.

As the “face of the company” during the construction phase, the Project Manager is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while the team is working in their home. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintain project schedules, providing feedback to the production manager for overall production planning.
  • Provides clear direction to field staff and trade partners to execute each project to the specifications of the scope and design.
  • Develops a clear understanding of each client expectations to ensure project deliverables and overall experience are met.
  • Provides support to all lead carpenters, and carpenters.
  • Communicates with Sales/Design/Estimating for clear understanding of scope of work, budget, plans, and product specifications BEFORE the project starts taking ownership from start to finish.
  • Attends on-site pre-construction walk-throughs with the team and client to discuss project scope and logistics.
  • Delivers “schedule and what to expect” information for each project to the Office Manager at least one full day before the customer check in meeting.
  • Visits job sites of all lead carpenters as needed to assist in quality control.
  • Reports to production manager as a representative of the field staff throughout the week.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge and understanding of project plans, material takeoffs, building assemblies, building code requirements and interpretations, and job site safety.
  • Manages the Additional Work Order process and required paperwork compared to the initial scope of work.

Objective

  • Maintain planning, scheduling, management, and quality control of multiple projects from start to finish.
  • Collaborate with all departments to review the scope of work for each project and gather all pertinent information required to execute projects effectively.
  • Communicate individual job tasks to carpenters and trade partners.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and Lead Carpenter’s to ensure that all projects be completed on time and within budget, while consistently meeting the quality control standards.
  • Manage, lead, and teach other production team members.
  • Provide communication and responsiveness to each client.
  • Monitor and insures daily client communication from the lead carpenters.
  • Monitor and insures clean, safe, and organized job sites.
  • Lead all weekly client check in meetings and involves appropriate production and design staff.
  • Work closely with the production team to support production calendar and overall workflow within the department.

Designer Job Description

Objective

  • Work with customers and listen to understand their needs.
  • Deliver an exciting design experience to produce high level of customer satisfaction in the design phase.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and provide support to our customers as they confirm material selections for their project.
  • Provide exceptional communication and support during design and construction.

Position Requirements

The designer finds remodeling solutions to our customer’s problems within a specified budget range. The design process includes gathering information from the client, preparing preliminary plans, construction agreement plans, and construction plans. The designer guides the client through selections in a way to minimize their stress and build their excitement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses field measure information from the estimator to produce detailed and accurate plans for existing relevant spaces.
  • Facilitates design kick-off meeting with the client, and project developer to review and discuss goals, budget, and design aesthetic.
  • Creates accurate and exciting conceptual drawings for customer review and acceptance.
  • Works with customers in design development meetings before the construction agreement is signed.
  • Supports and guides the customer through the process of confirming material selections and project details.
  • Delivers clear and accurate plans to the estimator for preliminary and final pricing on contracts, options, and additional work orders.
  • Provides specifications to vendors about the project for pricing in advance of the construction agreement and at the time of install.
  • Assists project developer with preparation for any design development meetings, and proposal of construction agreements.
  • Prepares construction drawings to the specifications that are agreed upon by the customer. All completed construction drawings will have the correct information for permitting and construction.
  • Prepares the job ready for construction. This will include material lists for selections and special-order items, finalizing prices with vendors, install plans for the field team, and completing the job folder at least two weeks in advance of the Pre-Construction Meeting.
  • Provides carpenters with additional support as needed during construction, including but not limited to additional details, drawings, and information for on-site meetings if needed.
  • Participates in weekly update meetings with each customer during the project.
